SN Power has confirmed that a 44-year-old man died on 20 August at the Cheves project in Peru, where SN Power is the developer.
The deceased was employed by the project’s civil contractor Constructora Cheves S.A.C. (CCH).
"Our thoughts go to the family of the deceased, and we are working hard to ensure they get all the support and help needed", says Torger Lien, CEO of SN Power.
Safety has been a challenge at the Cheves project, and this is the third fatal accident at the project.
An Independent Investigation team has been set up, and the fatal accident will be investigated according to SN Power’s standard procedures.
The Cheves hydropower project is located on Rio Huaura, about 130km by air north of Lima. The Cheves hydropower plant will be fully owned by SN Power and will add 168MW to the Peruvian interconnected system once operational. A new transmission network between the districts of Huara and Oyón, will also be constructed as part of the project.
