The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has engaged SMEC, in association with subsidiary Engineering General Consultants (EGC) to provide monitoring and evaluation services for the Tarbela 4 Extension Hydropower Project.

This Project is part of the Pakistan Government’s least-cost electricity generation strategy which aims to expand Pakistan’s electricity generation capacity cost-effectively. SMEC’s services include: monitoring and evaluating the implementation of all project works; identifying physical, environmental, social and economic impacts; tracking key indicators of the implementation schedule (input, output and outcome); developing a Project Monitoring Information System; implementing and supervising Environmental, Social and Resettlement Action Plans; and introducing an Enterprise Project Management System (EPMS) to manage sub-projects, and provide risk management and performance analysis.
