RWE Innogy’s plans to build a hydropower project at Betws y Coed in the Conwy Valley, Wales, have been rejected by the Snowdonia National Park Authority.
The energy firm had wanted to construct the £12 million scheme on the River Conwy, and said it would have had a ‘positive impact on the local environment and economy’.
Environmental groups had however expressed concerns about the location of the scheme.
In light of the Park Authority’s refusal, RWE Innogy said it will now consider its future options, the BBC reported.
