Water levels in Hydro Tasmania’s reservoirs currently stand at 14.8%, with the Tasmanian Government announcing it is turning to diesel to ensure energy security during the Australian state’s current energy crisis.

In a statement, Energy Minister Matthew Groom said there had been no material inflows into Hydro Tasmania’s catchments over the past week. The utilities water levels are currently a reduction of 0.7 per cent during the previous week.

Basslink has advised that the interconnector has been cut and further updates on repairing the cable are expected this week.

The government is rolling out an Energy Supply Plan with the first diesel generation progressively coming online. Hydro Tasmania has advised it is on track to have 100MW of temporary diesel generation available by the end of March and 200MW by the end of April.
