Michael Rogers has been elected as the new president of the International Commission of Large Dams (ICOLD), taking over from outgoing president Anton Schleiss.

Rogers, who is Vice President and Dams Practice Leader at Stantec, was elected to the role on the ICOLD 2018 annual conference held this month in Vienna, Austria. He was previously ICOLD’s Vice President-America.

In the new role, Rogers said in a statement that he will look to strengthen ICOLD National Committees and Technical Committees; improve commitment to Capacity Building; increase opportunities for young engineers; and formalize ICOLD's commitment to the safety of dams and levees worldwide.
