Rainpower has announced it is to upgrade two turbines at Statkraft’s Lang Sima hydropower station.
Under the deal, Rainpower is to conduct model tests, deliver three new Pelton impellers, 10 new injectors, and turbine parts rehabilitation for the station, which is part of the 1120MW Sima power plant.
The work on the model test have started in Rainpower's laboratory in Trondheim, with delivery scheduled to be completed in early 2022. Large parts of the delivery will be performed at Rainpower's own workshop at Sørumsand. Sima power plant is located in Eidfjord municipality in Hordaland, and is Norway's second largest power plant in terms of capacity. The power plant includes regulating facilities and the two power stations – Lang-Sima and Sy-Sima. Power production started in 1980.
