Fichtner, together with its British subsidiary Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd, has been contracted by Quarry Battery Company Ltd. to support its 100MW pumped storage hydro development in Wales.
The Glyn Rhonwy site in Llanberis comprises two disused slate quarries which will be re-purposed as reservoirs for the new-build pumped storage scheme. The reservoirs will have storage volumes of up to 1.3 million m³ and a height difference of some 300m.
Fichtner’s services on the project include a value engineering phase, followed by the preparation of tender documents and support during tendering.
