Green Highland is teaming up with Voith Hydro to provide operational and maintenance services for two hydropower schemes in Romania's Carpathian Mountains. These schemes comprise 12 units, and Green Highland's UK center of excellence is providing support to ensure they operate optimally.
Green Highland has installed an interface device that allows secure visibility of operations at its control center in Perth, Scotland. With this remote monitoring and assessment package, the team can measure and evaluate operations and maintenance performance to maximize output and project value.
The company is also supporting projects in Africa, including large-scale hydropower projects in Ethiopia. The company is working with local teams to improve the reliability and availability of existing projects and reduce reliance on carbon-intensive generation. This support has been made possible by the German overseas development fund.
”Our extensive experience and knowledge of delivering, operating and maintaining hydropower projects in the UK and Scotland, provides the perfect platform to apply this knowledge in other countries,” commented Green Highland, CEO Alex Reading. “Hydropower is critical in achieving Net Zero, in the UK and worldwide. It’s the oldest form of electricity generation, delivering low-cost, flexible, and predictable renewable power. As a next step, we would like to work with UK Government to ensure that we continue to unlock this service around the world while creating jobs and investment in the UK.
