Almost 50% of the work on the Ghazi Barotha hydro power project has been completed in Pakistan. Work has been expedited to complete the first phase by August 2002 in order to meet future power requirements.
Two out of the five generating units will start producing power from August 2002.
The other units are scheduled to start generating by 15 July 2003.
