Vattenfall, one of Europe’s largest hydroelectric power providers, has chosen Copperleaf Portfolio™, an asset investment planning and risk management solution, to enhance its investment planning and operational strategies.

The AI-powered solution from Copperleaf, an IFS company, will enable Vattenfall to align investment planning with its financial and operational objectives, improve risk visibility for hydroelectric dams and river systems, and make informed, value-based decisions. The system also incorporates regulatory requirements, resource constraints, and sustainability goals, integrating measures like CO2 reduction and biodiversity into planning processes.

“Copperleaf will assist us in setting the right investment level based on our strategy,” said Yvonne Björnström, Director Technology Dam Safety, Environment, Asset Management, and Technology at Vattenfall Hydro. “Improved efficiency in asset investment planning enables higher focus on risk and puts us in a better position to run a profitable business.”

The partnership marks Copperleaf’s first client in Sweden. “Their decision to partner with us is a testament to the trust they place in Copperleaf to deliver a future-proof solution that aligns with their strategic objectives and operational needs,” said Christina Jørgensen, Copperleaf Regional Manager.

Stefan Sadnicki, Copperleaf Managing Director for EMEA & APJ, emphasized the alignment between the companies. “We are excited to embark on this long-term partnership with Vattenfall Hydro, a company whose commitment to sustainability and innovation aligns perfectly with Copperleaf’s values,” he said. “By implementing the Copperleaf solution, we look forward to helping our client improve transparency, foster better governance, and enable more agile and informed decision-making across its planning cycles.”
