Mark Fox, the commercial manager of electrowatt Engineering’s hydro power department in Zurich, Switzerland, will be running the Flora London Marathon on 22 April 2001 to raise money for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). And IWP&DC will keep you up-to-date with his progress.
UNICEF, which is financially independent from the United Nations and receives all revenues from international donations, helps children around the world and is primarily involved in developing countries where the hydro power and water supply industry sources a substantial portion of its revenue.
With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Fox has worked in many countries on the Indian subcontinent and in southern Africa. He started running while on assignment on the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) and has completed eight marathons, including the 90km Comrades Marathon in South Africa.
Fox has used the opportunity of marathon running to raise money for charity. He raised a significant amount of money for rural children’s hospitals in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho with sponsorship from a variety of international contractors, suppliers and consultants involved with the LHWP.
If you wish to join colleagues throughout the industry and help Fox in his endeavour to raise US$10-15,000, you can contact him regarding sponsorship on tel: +41 76 356 2048, fax: + 41 1355 5561, email: mark.fox@ewe.ch
