The utility said the six months saw better than average hydrological conditions. Its own output was up more than a third to 339GWh in H1-’09 compared to last time, and there was in increase of 12% to 572GWh in energy from interests and drawing rights.

The hydro assets comprise 15 mini-hydro plants, a number of which were recently refurbished. The company said it plans to a significant step-up in hydro power assets in Switzerland and also add to the portfolio in other countries.

A major planned project is the 1GW Poschiavo-Bianco pumped storage scheme, in Switzerland, which Ratia Energie hopes to have operational by 2018.

Also in Switzerland, planning work is underway for the 40MW Chlus project. Construction is advancing on the 10MW Taschinas plant, which is to be completed by 2011.
