The company has also delivered the completed Xeset 2 plant in Lao PDR, where it was recently awarded a further contract to build two plants – Nam Kham 2 and Nam Kham 3.

The 6.4 GW Xiangjiaba project is under construction on the Jinsha (“Jianshajiang”) river and will have eight generating units – four on the left bank, four on the right. Sinohydro said each unit will have an installed capacity of 800MW.

The project is being developed by China Yangtza Electric Power Co, and it expects the plant to generate approximately 30,750GWh of electricity per year.

Separately, the 3.6GW Jinping 1 is being built by Ertan Hydropower Development Co (EHDC) on the Yalong river.

In Lao PDR, earlier this month Sinohydro handed over the completed Xeset 2, and the first unit was brought into operation. The project was built for Electricite du Laos (EDL), and it has signed contracts with the utility to build the 126MW Nam Kham 2 and 47MW Nam Kham 3 plants.
