According to local media reports, during pre-construction studies company engineers found the project could generate an additional 26MW than first thought, making it more economically viable.
Dhaula Sidh, which features a 51m high dam, is currently being executed on the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh and is expected to be commissioned in 2014.
The project is a joint venture of SJVNL (with 51%) and the state government.
