The news agency quoted a statement from French Energy Minister Jean-Louis Borloo which said that the opening of the tenders would be made on a case by case basis, with concessions awarded between 2013-2015. The move opens up competition in the country’s hydro sector which is dominated by utility EDF.
The ten hydro projects up for renewal are located in the Alps, the Pyrenees and in central France.
