The plant, located 86km west of the provincial capital Shahr-e Kord, cost US$39.5M and has a projected capacity of 128MkWh/yr.
The country’s electricity production is set to rise from 4000MW to 12000MW by the end of the fourth five-year development plan and 500MW of total electricity supply is to be provided by the country’s private sector, said Bitaraf.
The Kouhrang plant has created 600 job opportunities for local residents.
