The boost in funding for the 59-year-old project will enable the US Army Corps of Engineers to raise the height of the dam, increase its stability and boost its discharge capacity.
Following the committee approval, legislation will now move to the full Senate. The funding comes as part of the Fiscal Year 2007 Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill.
