The call will be issued following discussions with independent power producers and other stakeholders. The call is one of three that BC Hydro has announced in recent months. The others are the creation of a ‘standing offer’ program for projects under 10MW, which are free to contract with BC Hydro at any time on the basis of a standard contract, and a bioenergy call that the company is developing with the British Columbia forestry sector and the ministry of forests. BC Hydro’s most recent open call for power was in April 2006.
