In Sweden, andritz will supply the complete electromechanical equipment for the Hissmofors hydropower plant located 20km to the west of Östersund. The order – from Jämtkraft – includes delivery of two Kaplan turbines (output 34MW each), two synchronous generators, and additional equipment. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2013.
Under a contract with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO), Andritz will also deliver the equipment for the new Pare hydropower plant in District of Papumpare, Arunachal Pradesh, India. The scope of supply comprises design, delivery, installation and commissioning of the complete electro-mechanical equipment, including two 55MW vertical Francis turbines, generators, main inlet valves, control and protection system, power and control cables, and additional equipment. This order is also expected to be completed at the end of 2013.
In the US, the US Army Corps of Engineers in Portland has awarded the technology firm a contract to refurbish the Hills Creek hydropower plant in Oakridge, Oregon. The order includes model testing, supply of two new 16MW vertical Francis runners, the hydromechanical equipment, rewind of both generators, as well as refurbishment of additional power plant equipment. Recommissioning is scheduled for 2014.
In Costa Rica, Andritz will supply the electromechanical equipment for the modernization of Rio Macho hydropower plant units 1 and 2, which were installed in 1959 and 1963 respectively. The scope of supply includes two horizontal Pelton turbines (output 18MW each), generators, automation and additional equipment. As a result of this refurbishment, which is scheduled for completion in 2013, the output of the hydropower plant will be increased by around 8%. This contract was awarded by Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE).
