According to reports from the Peru News Agency, the project will require investment of US$148.9M. The project is being built by local turnkey contractor Grana y Montero, which is undertaking the work for state-owned utility Empresa de Generacion Electrica Machu Picchu SA (Egemsa).
2012 start for Machu Picchu phase II
Construction work on phase II of the Machu Picchu hydroelectric project in Peru will start in January 2012, the country’s Ministry of Energy and Mines has announced.
