In consortium with Brazilian engineering companies CESBE and Areva Koblitz, alstom was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth approximately EUR310M by Consorcui Amapa Energia to provide power equipment for the new 373.4MW Santo Antonio jo Jari plant. The project is to be built on the river Jari in Brazil’s Amazon region, with commissioning expected in late 2014.
Alstom’s share of the contract represents more that EUR100M, of which around 80% goes directly to Alstom and 20% for Industria Metalurgia e Mecanica da Amazonia (IMMA), in which Alstom partners with Bardella. Alstom will supply Kaplan turbines and generators, hydromechanical equipment, lifting equipment, digital control systems, engineering works, erection, supervision and commissioning for the three units of the plant.
In Peru, Alstom will provide power equipment for the new 450MW Chaglla dam, which is due to be commissioned in Huanuco in 250MW.
For the project – the second largest in Peru – Alstom will supply the complete electromechanical package, which includes a powerhouse with two 225MW vertical Francis turbines, generators and electrical and mechanical auxiliary systems. The scope also includes power transformers and switchyard equipment provided by Alstom Grid, hydromechanical equipment, DCS, telcom and plant protection, as well as a small hydro plant.
The plant’s turbines and generators will be manufactuered at Alstom’s Taubate factory in Brazil.
