SMEC’s office will be in Auckland with operations commencing in October 2011. The initial focus of SMEC New Zealand Ltd will be the power, energy, dams and hydropower sectors.
Michael Breckon joins SMEC as International Manager Industrial and Power. In addition to leading SMEC’s New Zealand business initially, Breckon will be responsible for the overall performance of the Industrial and Power business across SMEC globally. Breckon has 38 years of professional experience in transmission and distribution and joins SMEC from AECOM New Zealand, where he was International Director Power and Energy.
Joining Breckon at SMEC New Zealand Ltd will be Graeme Boyd and Suzie Millar. Boyd joins as Technical Director Dams and Hydropower. Formerly AECOM’s Technical Director Hydropower and Dams, Graeme has extensive New Zealand and Asia Pacific experience in hydropower and is one of the leading professionals across New Zealand in this sector. His initial focus will be to establish and grow SMEC’s New Zealand business as well as contribute to the ongoing development of SMEC’s international hydropower work. Millar joins as SMEC New Zealand’s Business Development Manager. Formerly Marketing Manager for AECOM’s energy business across Australia and New Zealand, she has extensive marketing and business development experience in the international energy sector.
SMEC’s long-term plan is to expand the business throughout New Zealand and provide SMEC’s full range of services.
