Norway’s Energiselskapet Buskerud (EB) has awarded Alstom a €4 million contract to repair and refurbish the existing generator at the 25MW Døvikfoss hydro power plant.
Dismantling works started at the project in May 2014 in order to limit the loss of energy at the project, with the assembly of the new and refurbished parts expected to be completed in June 2015.
“The hydropower plant is important for our energy supply in this region and we have chosen Alstom because of their competitive offer and their experience and expertise from similar types of projects", said Erik Andersen, Executive Vice President Production of EB.
“Our hydropower experiences and our dedicated services team will be fully commited to refurbish the Døvikfoss hydropower plant in the most optimal way. This contract shows our commitment to the Norwegian hydro market", added Eric Staurset, Country President of Alstom in Norway.
Located in the community of Modum, in south eastern Norway, the Døvikfoss hydropower plant was built in 1975 and exploits a head into the 48km long river named Drammenselva.
Alstom has successfully completed other hydro projects for EB in Norway, including the Mykstufoss and Kaggefoss rehabilitation projects.
