The projects to be constructed include 754MW of wind energy, 20MW of solar, 10MW of mini-hydropower and 110MW of biomass energy. Enarsa says it received a total of 51 project offers from 21 companies in the tender.
Companies winning projects include IMPSA, Nor Aldyl, Patagonia Wind Energy and Emgasud Renovables. In all, some 9 billion pesos will be invested in the projects.
The Genren programme is designed to diversify Argentina’s energy system away from gas while avoiding an increase in carbon emissions. Enarsa launched the tender in May 2009 and will offer power purchase agreements of up to 15 years.
The projects to be developed include 17 wind energy facilities, located predominantly in the south of the country, four biomass projects, five mini-hydro and six solar photovoltaic. Spanish firm Isolux is to build four 50MW wind farms while Argentina’s Emgasud Renovables is building three 50MW wind farms and one 30MW wind farm.
