Construction works in the contract include a headrace, surge tank and intake. The contract is being undertaken by Cavico Bridges and Tunnel Co, a subsidiary of Cavico Corp.
The budget for the entire 82MW project is about US$103.5M. Investors in the project include the Thai An Joint Stock Company, the Military Bank, Habubank and Bac A Bank.
Thai An is being developed in the Buan Ba and Vi Xuyen regions of Giang province, some 200km north of Hanoi.
Other hydro projects that Cavico is working on in Vietnam include Daksrong, Ban Ve, Dong Nai 3, Buon Kuop, Nam Chien 2 and Za Hung. The company is also acting as developer for a cascade scheme on the Dak My river.
