The country’s environmental regulator Conama said that Colbun had withdrawn the EIA for the project 56 working days after the submission in early April. The revised EIA is expected to be resubmitted within weeks, said Conama.
The run-of-river scheme is being developed for a budget of US$180M and is expected to take three years to build. To be sited in the district of Panguipulli and Los Lagos, the San Pedro plant is expected to generate about 960GWh per year.
