Serving the hydro power and dam construction industries since 1949
A series of Colombian hydroelectric plants have been approved as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects by the UNFCCC CDM Executive Board. The projects, which will replace thermal generation, are the 11.7MW Vuelta hydroelectric power plant and the 19.8MW Herradura plant.
The facilities, located along the river basin of La Herradura in Antioquia, Colombia, are to be built and operated by local energy and communications company, Empresas Publicas de Medellin, with design input from Japan’s J-Power.
The developments are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 68,000 tonnes per year.
