Fires currently burning near power generation assets have posed no threat to energy supply, Australian utility Hydro Tasmania said in a statement.
The utility said it is working closely with the Tasmania Fire Service and TasNetworks, to ensure protection of generation assets is appropriately prioritised in the current fire situation.
"A fire at Gordon River Road was yesterday burning close to transmission lines that service Gordon Power Station," said Chief Operating Officer, Evangelista Albertini. "The transmission lines were turned off while back-burning took place, and Gordon Power Station was proactively closed down. The station was returned to service this morning."
Hydro Tasmania has applauded the continuing efforts of the Tasmania Fire Service and others to control a number of fires around the state.
Earlier this week, fire burned vegetation surrounding Fisher Power Station and damaged power poles and the transmission line between Fisher and Rowallan power stations, and between Fisher Power Station and Lake MacKenzie.
Albertini said a ground inspection of Fisher Power Station yesterday confirmed that there is no significant damage to the station and work continues today on returning it to service.
"Safety is our number one priority, and all of our people have been appropriately advised of how to ensure their personal safety in the current circumstances," he said. "Workers who were performing maintenance work at Fisher Power Station earlier this week were evacuated when the fire approached the station. Our people only returned to the station to inspect its condition when we were assured it was safe to do so."
