The project is located in the village of Kilembe, in the Kasese district in Western Uganda. Of the US$24M loan for project development, FMO will provide US$12M, the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund will provide US$6M, DEG US$4M and Finnfund US$2M.
This funding follows on from an earlier financing in 2009, when FMO arranged a US$55M debt package for the development of 12 run-of-river hydropower projects totaling 58MW in Uganda and Sri Lanka.
