GE Renewable Energy has won deals valued at US$9 million for retrofit work on hydropower schemes in Vietnam and China.
The first contract was signed with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for modernization of the 4 x 100MW Tri An Hydro Power Plant in Vietnam. The second was signed with Yalong River Hydro Development Company, Ltd. for the 6 x 550MW Ertan Hydro Power Plant in China. Both contracts will be managed from GE’s facility in Tianjin, China.
Tri An Hydropower Plant is located on the Dong Nai River, 100km from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Under the terms of the new deal, GE will be responsible for replacing the project’s control system, governing system, excitation and BOP. The scope of the service contract covers equipment design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and trial run. The new digital control system will offer Electricity of Vietnam a more flexible, user friendly and efficient solution to help increase plant efficiency, said GE.
Ertan Hydropower plant is located on the downstream of YaLong River, China. Since the start of operation in 1998, it has helped to minimize the power shortage in Sichuan Province. The scope of GE’s contract here covers design, manufacture, onsite assembly and testing, delivery as well as technical supervisions including installation, testing and commissioning of related equipment.
