The hydro power plants operated by Latvenergo in Latvia generated 1547GWh of electricity in the first half of 2000, 748GWh less than in the same period in 1999. The fall in production was attributed to this year’s dry spring, which resulted in a fall in river water levels.
The Azeri Energy electricity company in Azerbaijan has reported increases in production, with generation in the first seven months of this year being 16.7% higher than in the same period in 1999. However, overall electricity production was 1.4% lower than last year.
