Owners of Brazilian hydropower plants will be permitted to raise electricity charges to their customers if production falls due to the country’s persistent drought.
A Reuters News Agency report said that the Brazilian Senate approved the action in a presidential decree on 24 November. It is thought that this could enhance investor interest for power plants slated for auction.
