The US$520M (plus adjustments) contract will see Impsa supply 10 Kaplan turbines of 232MW each and the corresponding 240MVA generators.
The contract also involves supply of other equipment, such as excitation systems, transformers and cranes.
Tocomoa is a 2,330MW project being built on the Caroni river, in Bolivar state, and is to be fully commissioned by 2012.
The procurement process for the equipment began in 2004, the company said. The contract was awarded by client CVG Electrificacion del Caroni (Edelca).
