Kabelschlepp France has announced that, with the aid of an international team, it implemented a cable carrier system for the safety value at Châteauneuf du Rhône hydroelectric plant, over the largest travel length the company has ever implemented.

The project, for power company CNR, was part of extensive maintenance works carried out at the plant, which is located in the South of France. The safety valve at the plant had to travel 120m. The customer ordered a cable carrier system from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp to replace the old conductor rails orginally installed at the hydroelectric plant.

The extreme conditions at the site required a robust design of the cable carrier system. It had to be installed on the retaining dam, with the cable carrier system exposed to high winds. Optimum functioning has to be ensured even at temperatures below freezing in winter.

In September 2021, the team of French and German colleagues started installing the system. In addition to the RSC MC0950 cable carrier, the solution includes all required cables, the guide channel, the floating TKFMD drivers including the driver arm as well as the substructure/wall brackets and the roof system.

The international team completed the project successfully – from on-time delivery to expert installation.
