Kemijoki Oy has selected Caverion as its partner for operating and maintaining the Anjalankoski and Inkeroinen hydroelectric power plants on the Kymijoki River in Southern Finland. The new contract, starting in May 2025, extends a longstanding collaboration that includes work in the Kemijoki and Lieksanjoki areas.

“In the future, Caverion will ensure operational reliability of Kemijoki Oy’s hydroelectric power plants in the Kymijoki area,” said Tuomas Timonen, CEO of Kemijoki Oy. “When choosing an operation and maintenance partner, hydropower expertise, local presence, and digital analytics services are particularly important to us. The high availability and long-term development of power plants require our partner to have good knowledge of the special characteristics of hydropower and be committed to training new experts.”

As part of the partnership, Caverion will introduce its AI-based analytics service, Caverion Intelligence, to help detect anomalies and anticipate disruptions.

“This is a great example of collaboration where our advisory services are combined with more traditional hydropower maintenance services,” said Laura Karotie, Head of Partnerships and Advisory Services at Caverion Finland.

Hydropower is Finland’s leading source of renewable electricity. Kemijoki Oy, the country’s largest producer of hydropower and regulating power, operates as an expert and commissioner organization. The company relies on partnerships to manage operations, contribute to regional employment, and enhance energy security.
