The US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) has awarded Kiewit Pacific Company of California a $16.6M contract under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to modify the spillway piers and gates of Folsom Dam to resist seismic loadings. The project is part of USBR's Infrastructure Reliability and Safety of Dams improvements.
Under the contract, Kiewit Pacific will make seismic improvements to the existing dam gates and piers, to include the installation of pier anchors and bracing, the replacement of existing gate arms and other equipment, and preparation and support activities.
Folsom Dam is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Sacramento, California. near the city of Folsom.
