The lowest bid to build the hydro project and 220m high dam on the Santiago river, approximately 105km north west of Guadalajara, came from a JV that includes Ingenieros Civiles Asociados, Promotora e Inversora Adisa, La Peninsular Compania Constructora and Constructora de Proyectos Hidroelectricos.
The closest rival tender was US$808M, which was submitted by Promotora del Desarrollo de America Latina.
A JV lead by Impregilo and Techint bid US$856M.
The bids are being evaluated for compliance with the tender process, and work will shortly commence on the technical aspects of the tenders. CFE plans to decide the winning bidder by 6 September.
Great stock is being put on transparency in the procurement process as the project is a significant part of the construction and infrastructure development in Mexico.
CFE estimated that 10,000 jobs should be created during the construction phase of the project.
