The project team at Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project in Pakistan has restored the 150ft long tunnel collapse in the project’s tailrace tunnel.
During a visit to the project site, Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) witnessed the construction activities and appreciated the efforts of the project team consisting of WAPDA, China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC), and the consultants of the project. The Chairman was briefed that the remedial works were being done in light of the report furnished by the International Panel of Experts and were completed on Eid Day.
Hydraulic lining shutter is being installed inside the tailrace tunnel for concrete lining, while the allied works are also continuing side by side. The consultants’ risk analysis report is expected to be finalized over the next month.
The Chairman directed the project authorities to resume electricity generation from the project by the end of July to help meet the energy needs of Pakistan.
