According to local media, 15 of the plants are currently under construction, with the remaining 16 in the final design stage.
The first seven small schemes are expected to be operational at the end of next year. Total investment in all the projects is over $2B.
Panama’s electricity consumption currently stands at 1120MW, but this is expected to increase to 1373MW by 2013.
