Montgomery Watson has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding to merge with Harza Engineering Company. The new company will be known as montgomery-watson-harza and will combine Montgomery Watson’s experience in water and wastewater with Harza’s experience in the energy and water markets. When the merger is finalised in early 2001, the new company will be based in Pasadena, California, US with four major business divisions located in Denver and Chicago (US), High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire (UK) and Singapore.
On 8 November Harza also announced the creation of a permanent, French registered joint venture with ISL, a Paris-based, independent engineering company for water resources development and civil engineering.
The joint venture, Harza-ISL, offers European clients the capabilities of a multi-disciplinary office in Paris, and worldwide clients full access to US and European multi-lateral financing. The company will provide a broad spectrum of services for:
• Dams and hydroelectric plants.
• Power plant systems.
• Hydromechanical equipment.
• Control and communications.
• Transmission and distribution.
• Water/waste water management.
• Watershed and environmental assessment.
• Privatisation and BOT projects.
