The National Hydropower Association (NHA) has launched the Water Power Facts online tool, a comprehensive resource offering up-to-date data for the water power industry. The tool uses the latest government data to assist industry professionals and stakeholders in making informed decisions about hydropower projects.
Key features include graphs and charts that display data on:
- Megawatts by state and region
- Renewable capacity and generation
- Owners and operators
- Avoided emissions
- Employment by sector
A highlight of the tool is an interactive map that provides plant- and dam-level data. Users can easily locate existing hydropower plants, pumped storage projects, and dams with potential for hydropower development. Clicking on a location pin reveals details such as capacity, ownership, and licensing information.
Users can also toggle state and congressional district overlays to view the number of plants and aggregate capacity in specific areas.
