NHPC Limited has successfully completed the erection of 767 ferrules for all eight lanes of pressure shaft liners at the 2000MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
The milestone was achieved in the presence of the project’s Executive Director and Head of Project, along with senior officials from NHPC and executing agency M/s Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd.
The completion of the steel liner work is a crucial step toward ensuring the timely commissioning of the project.
This follows the successful installation of Spillway Radial Gate S-4 on January 29, 2025, which was completed in a record 29 days. With this, all nine spillway radial gates of the project are now in place.
The Subansiri Lower project, a run-of-the-river hydroelectric initiative on the Subansiri River, is one of India’s largest hydropower projects under construction. Once operational, it is expected to enhance power generation in the northeastern region and support India’s renewable energy targets.
