According to reports from the Vietnam News Agency, the 95MW turbine started operations on Friday, a month before schedule. Formal inauguration of the plant is expected in September this year.
Developed by Electricity of Vietnam, the US$256M project is the second hydro plant on the Vu Gia-Thu Bon River system to be placed into operation. The multi-purpose scheme will help prevent flooding and provide water for agricultural use, as well as generating much-needed electricity.
