The contractor’s work, which is expected to begin in early July, will include rehabilitating gates and coating the penstocks at both dams. Three gate assemblies at each dam will be repaired and their water-bearing metal surfaces will be coated. The interior surfaces of the three penstocks at each dam will be prepared and then coated. Work is expected to take about three years.
‘This contract reflects Reclamation’s commitment to maintaining its facilities so they continue to reliably fulfill their purpose of storing and delivering water and producing power,’ said USBR Acting Commissioner William Rinne.
Seminoe and Kortes dam are located on the North Platte river and are part of a series of facilities which control and store water on the river for irrigation, power generation, flood control, recreation and other purposes.
