Reports in the ColomboPage say that the projects two 75MW turbine units are being installed in the powerhouse, and the project is on schedule for completion at the end of the year.

The US$350M project is being funded through loans from the Government of Japan. Japanese firm Maeda Corporation was awarded the contract to complete the main civil works on the project, including construction of a 35m high 180m long concrete dam, a 13.5km long tunnel equipped with surge facilities, and intake and outlet structures.
