The Euro 350M (US$480M) project is being built to further improve the city and local regions from the potential impact of storm tides.
Work on the contract, awarded by state-owned firm Rosstroy, is due for completion in 2012.
St Petersburg flood barrage gap to be closed
A contract has been awarded to a JV between Dutch firm Royal Boskalis and German group Hochtief to close a 2.6km gap in the flood protection barrage at St Petersburg.
