The turbines are expected to generate up to 6MW of power, and will allow Promithian to operate more efficiently, Sunbelt said in a statement. Diesel generators were previously used as a power source for these types of operations; however, this is a significantly more costly alternative to energy produced by hydropower at a ratio of approximately $1: $0.16 respectively.
