German testing and inspection service provider TÜV Rheinland has acquired ABB’s UK technical engineering consultancy, part of ABB’s Energy Industries division.
The acquisition will complement TÜV Rheinland’s existing risk, safety and integrity management services, and will be integrated into its Industrial Services & Cybersecurity business in the UK, the company said. The deal includes ABB’s technical engineering consultancy business, a network of subcontractors and associates, and a team of technical experts who help global energy customers improve process safety, equipment and asset integrity, as well as technical design for new and existing industrial plants.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. The deal follows a strategic portfolio review by ABB, which is divesting the UK technical engineering consultancy business as part of its strategy to focus on its core business areas.
