The Government of Ukraine has given the green light to a pilot project aimed at rebuilding the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, which was destroyed in an explosion in early June.

Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, expressed the government's commitment to the project, which is projected to span two years. During the initial phase, comprehensive engineering designs will be meticulously laid out, and necessary groundwork will be laid to prepare for the restoration process. However, the implementation of the second stage of the project will be contingent on the successful de-occupation of the territories where the hydroelectric power plant is situated. The second stage will encompass the actual construction work, bringing the plant back to full operation.

Urgent coordination of the project will be overseen by the Ministry of Economy, working in tandem with Ukrhydroenergo, which will be responsible for managing the restoration efforts as the customer.
