The company will supply three turbines, each of 784MW capacity, and also three generators to the Xiluodu plant which is under construction on the Jinshu (“Jianshajiang”) river, in Yunnan province.
With a value of Euro120M (US$160M), the contract is a major part of its order volume for the current year.
The Xiluodu plant will have a total installed capacity of 12.6GW and be fully commissioned by 2015. In early stags of the works, however, there were delays due to pressure from the State Environmental Protection Administration (Sepa).
The new brand, Voith Hydro, was established with effect from 1 April. The joint venture business was formerly named voith-siemens Hydro Power Generation.
